Great Gatsby Gala Raises Funds for the Tesoro Family of Schools
Education for the Children Foundation (EFC) held its 19th annual spring fundraiser at the Coto de Caza Golf and Racquet Club on Saturday, March 11th. The “Great Gatsby” themed gala had more than 120 attendees dressed up and ready to dance the night away to live jazz music while raising money for local public schools. During the lively cocktail hour, guests were able to bid on an assortment of silent auction baskets generously donated by local businesses in the community.
This year the evening included teacher testimonials highlighting the direct impact the grants had in their classrooms. Teacher testimonies were proudly given by Mrs. Manisha Fish (Las Flores Elementary), Mrs. Kim Houldin (Arroyo Vista Elementary), and Mr. Tony Tubbs (Tesoro High School).
Richard and Buff Colarossi and the Highest Peak Foundation were recognized as the Benefactor of the Year for their generous financial support and for their challenge to encourage more families to donate to the Friends of EFC funds drive earlier in the academic year. Other corporate sponsors of the event included Cox Communications, Wells Fargo Bank, Wendy’s, Deloitte and Keystone Pacific.
EFC is a non-profit foundation comprised of volunteer parents and community members who raise money to enhance the educational experiences of our children in the Tesoro Family of Schools. EFC’s fundraising efforts have provided over $1.8 million dollars in school grants in the past 19 years and $80,000 for academic year 2016-2017.
