EFC's Luau - A Huge Success

Luau for Education, held Saturday, May 14, 2011, at the beautiful Coto de Caza Golf & Racquet club raised close to $60,000. The Luau, sponsored by Brett & Annie Hall, featured a live performance by Le Polynesia Productions, music from the Nalu Boyz, and a martini ice sculpture with delicious tropical Cosmos.

Over 250 guests dined on salmon, Hawaiian chicken and a delicious variety of desserts. Live auction items were so popular that 2-3 parking spots were awarded to the highest bidders. “Parking is always so difficult at the school, and I have three children, so this parking spot is golden to me”, said the Kezelman family at Wagon Wheel Elementary.

The quietist time of the night, was when teacher grant recipients told the crowd how grateful they were to the parents that support them throughout the year. And Dr. Burch, principal of Tesoro High School, hosted the live auction with his smile and wit to bring on the extra dollars!

This year, two Benefactor of the Year Awards were granted. One to Cox Communications, and the other to the DuMont Family. The Benefactor award is given to a company or individual that regularly supports EFC with multiple sponsorships. The 2011 Benefactors names will be prominently displayed throughout the community in recognition of their support.
