EFC's Hoedown for Education Celebrates 16 Years
The EFC Hoedown for Education was held at the Arroyo Trabuco Golf course on March 15th. More than 200 attendees enjoyed bidding for silent and live auction items along with dinner and live band dancing. Guests also tried their skills at bull riding and many were successful in holding on for the duration of the ride!
The event was sponsored by Hanna’s and Educate Rancho as our Gold Belt Buckle sponsor; Cox Communications, as our Partner in Technology and Education; Rancho Santa Margarita Honda as our Silver Belt Buckle sponsor; and David & Denise Hall, Simple Green -the Putnam Family, and the Bastian Family as Bronze Belt Buckle sponsors. Other Bull Ride and Bar sponsors included Zeppos Rautiola LLP, Jim & Amy Chergy, and Team Gray Fitness.
Teachers volunteered at the event and there was representation from all of the principals within the Tesoro family including Las Flores Elementary and Middle School, Wagon Wheel Elementary, Tijeras Creek Elementary, Arroyo Vista Elementary and Middle School and Tesoro High School. Bob Picazo, teacher at Tesoro High School, was wonderful as auctioneer for the live auction.
Tim and Jennifer Edwards, advocates for EFC for many years, were recognized as Benefactors of the Year. Superintendent Dr. Joe Farley attended the event and remarked how events like these run by dedicated parents help make Capistrano Unified School District so strong.
EFC is a non-profit foundation comprised of volunteer parents and community members who raise money to enhance the educational experiences of our children in the Tesoro family of schools. EFC’s fundraising efforts have provided over $1.8 million dollars in school grants in the past 16 years and $70,000 alone last year to these CUSD schools.
