EFC Holds First Annual Youth Games

The first annual EFC “Youth Games” was held on Sunday, October 27th at the Tesoro High School Stadium where 270 students in kindergarten through eighth grade competed in various track and field and other sporting events while representing their respective schools. Students from Arroyo Vista School, Las Flores Elementary and Middle Schools, Tijeras Creek Elementary School, and Wagon Wheel Elementary School, participated to help raise money to support the students, teachers, and classrooms through the EFC Grant Program.

EFC’s 2013 “Youth Games” were sponsored by The Ashbrook Family as Gold Sponsor; Cox Communications, as our Partner in Technology and Education; DuMont Engineering as Silver Sponsor; and Simple Green, Keystone Pacific Property Management, and Deloitte as individual event sponsors.

It was a nice role reversal of “Students Helping Teachers.” Winners in each event were awarded a Gold, Silver, or Bronze medal, and the perpetual “Youth Games” trophy was awarded to Las Flores Middle School and Wagon Wheel Elementary School for having won the most medals. The OC Sheriff’s Department saluted the athletes with a helicopter fly by and landing, and preceded to allow the athletes to get a close up view of the helicopter. The events were run and judged by the current student athletes of Tesoro High School’s Football, Lacrosse, Baseball, Soccer, Track and Field, and Basketball teams.
