EFC Fun Run 2010

More than 500 participants of all ages ran in the second annual Education for the Children Foundation Family Fun 5K Sunday at Saddleback College.


The fundraiser included a 5K fun run or walk around the college campus, incorporating shorter distances for children under 12. Entertainment included a DJ, local bands, singers, and song and cheerleaders from local schools. T-shirts, awards, medals, and goodie bags were given out to participants.


“The funds from the event today help benefit the Tesoro family schools,” Jennifer Edwards, event director, said.


Education for the Children is a nonprofit organization that raises money for six Capistrano Unified School District schools. The Tesoro family schools include Tesoro High School, Wagon Wheel Elementary, Las Flores Elementary and Middle School, Tijeras Creek Elementary, and Arroyo Vista Elementary School.


Tesoro High School Cheer and Song Team help the Education for the Children to make Family Fun 5K possible. The team helped set up tables and equipment early in the morning and continued to have the energy abd spirit tp cheer the runners when the races started at 9 a.m.


Other big sponsors included Tom Ashbrook and Family along with Cox Communications of Orange County.
