EFC’s annual Family Fun Run/5K held on Sunday, November 6, 2011 at Saddleback College, was a huge success with over 400 runners who turned up despite cold temperatures and rainy skies. The timed event included a 5K run/walk and a 1 mile Fun Run for families. The fastest male runner was Carter Christman from Las Flores Middle School and the fastest female runner was Kendall Donaldson from Tesoro High School.
The lively event featured a fun warm-up by Gold’s Gym along with activity booths from Fit Kids America, The Tutor Doctor, Academic Learning Lab, Little Caesar’s and Keystone Pacific Property Management. Entertainment included local bands, singers and song and cheerleaders from the local community. T-shirts, awards, medals, and goodie bags were given to all participants. Kids were also invited to color cards for their teachers as part of the Parents Appreciate Teachers (PAT) program. Event supporters included Title Sponsor The Ashbrook Family, along with Gold Sponsors, Keystone Pacific Property Management, Cox Communications, Dumont Engineering and PADI. A new funding level this year was the “Friends of EFC” sponsorship and included Tim and Jill Harmon and Shulman, Hodges and Bastian, LLP. These sponsors gave a year-long contribution to EFC.
This year’s run set a new record – more than $16,000 was raised which will go towards teacher grants for the 2012-2013 school year. Save the date for EFC’s Cinco de Mayo celebration on May 5, 2012 at Coto de Caza Golf and Racquet Club.
