Education for the Children’s Mardi Gras Celebration Supports Funding For Six Schools

COTO DE CAZA, Calif., February, 2009 - Education for the Children (EFC), an all-volunteer, public school foundation that raises funds for six Capistrano Unified School District (CUSD) schools, recently celebrated education with a Mardi Gras themed party. The celebration took place at Forster Mansion, a historical landmark built in the 1900’s, located in San Juan Capistrano. With casino play, DJ and dancing, VIP lounge, traditional Mardi Gras fare, live and silent auctions, the party was really hopping.

The festivities drew over 200 attendees who bid on numerous live auction items ranging from exclusive parking spots at schools to a cute little puppy. Over 100 silent auction items were offered from local businesses and individuals.

One of the main highlights of the evening was the benefactor of the year awards ceremony, where two recipients were honored for their generous contributions to Education for the Children Foundation. The first award was given to ClubCorp, warmly received by Mike Ameel. The second award was given to Denise and David Hall, parents of Brett and Annie Hall, for their many years of support to EFC.

The evening provided fun, flair and an exclusive little VIP bar that was a hit with its underground private entrance, flashing drink glasses and delicious cocktails.

“This event raised over $43,000.00. We couldn’t have done it without the wonderful support of our community and our top sponsorships, French Quarter-Title Sponsor, Brett & Annie Hall, and Masquerade sponsor, Shulman Hodges & Bastian, LLP”, said event co-chair, Lisa Hart, “we are fortunate to have such generous people supporting our schools”.

Through events like Celebrate Education: Mardi Gras 2009, the Education for the Children Foundation can continue to provide teacher grants to six Capistrano Unified School District schools: Arroyo Vista School, Las Flores Middle and Elementary schools, Tijeras Creek Elementary School, Wagon Wheel Elementary School and Tesoro High School.
