Mission Statement
Investing in education for our children, their teachers and the community.
About EFC
Education For The Children raises and distributes funds to enhance and supplement the learning experiences of public school students in our service area.
Our Story
Education For The Children Foundation (EFC) was founded by a group of dedicated community leaders committed to supporting a level of excellence and innovation within the Capistrano Unified School District in southern Orange County, California. EFC's mission is to build a relationship between public schools and the community raising money to supplement the educational resources of local schools. The Foundation was created in 1998 and to date has raised over $1,300,000 to support teacher grant programs and facility upgrades at six local schools; Arroyo Vista School, Wagon Wheel Elementary School, Tijeras Creek Elementary School, Las Flores Elementary School, Las Flores Middle School and Tesoro High School.
What we are doing
In the fall of each year, EFC awards monies to the public schools it supports in the form of teacher grants. The grants provide funding to teachers’ projects, thus directly impacting students. Innovative teaching approaches bring deeper meaning to the curriculum and improve the educational experiences of the students. Since EFC’s inception in August of 1998, over $1,300,000 has been awarded in teacher grants, to Tesoro High School's Knowledge Center, and to the Las Flores Middle School Fitness Center. Teacher grants provide for items such as music uniforms, career awareness, telescopes, foreign language training, science enrichment, digital cameras, printers, and portable keyboards, to name just a few previously successful grant applications. Funds have been donated for classrooms, computer wiring, network upgrades, exterior lighting, and playground additions.
EFC is an all volunteer, parent run, public school foundation that raises and distributes funds for six schools that make up the Tesoro Family: (Arroyo Vista School, Wagon Wheel Elementary, Las Flores Elementary, Tijeras Creek Elementary, Las Flores Middle School and Tesoro High School).
EFC awards these funds, in the form of teacher/classroom grants once a year. These grants provide funding for school site projects and programs that enhance and improve the educational experience, impacting the largest number of students possible. Since its inception in 1998, EFC is proud to have raised and granted over $1.3 million dollars for computers, software, digital and document cameras, projectors, printers, microscopes, fitness equipment, and much, much more.
How does EFC raise funds?
EFC organizes and facilitates major fundraising events throughout the year, working together with the community to provide a fun filled year of entertainment. Some of our most popular events have been our family fun 5K, golf tournaments and auction dinners. Local Business sponsors and family donations have also been instrumental in our fundraising efforts.
Why does EFC do this fundraising?
EFC was established due to the fact that our local schools were lacking in funds ultimately interfering with the promise of excellence in our children’s education. This kind of community fundraising directly impacts our children and therefore gives our teachers and students the opportunity for a more enriched learning environment
